It was a family affair at Fort Myers United Church of Christ as the Rev. David K. Bucey was installed as pastor on November 5th. He was surrounded by many family members, including his son, Micah, and brother, Karl, who are both UCC ministers and participated in the service. Rev. Bucey was particularly pleased to have his son give the sermon, as Micah is an example of the new blood invigorating the future church. Micah is Minister at Judson Memorial Church in NY City, a church that has always been on the cutting edge of LGBTQ rights, given its location just down the street from the famed Stonewall Inn.
Our regional Florida UCC Conference Minister, Leslie Etheredge, performed the service of installation. Many Bucey family members joined in the celebration, including Dave’s wife, Barbara, and son Christian. A lovely luncheon was served by the Search Committee after the service.
