Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13, 2018 has been designated as “Feed Our Children” Sunday by the Board of Missions. Many of the students in Lee County Public Schools do not qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program, yet their families cannot afford the price of lunch. Yes, students can receive a cheese sandwich and milk. However, there is a limited number of times they may do so and the stigma that surrounds that simple cheese sandwich can be an embarrassment to the children. That stigma prevents students from even asking for the cheese sandwich the first time. We are asking you to give to our project so that no child will go without a lunch, especially since it may be their only chance at a hot, balanced meal that day. Please consider donating on Mother’s Day in honor of the moms in your life.
