LIFE Update
Lee Interfaith For Empowerment (or LIFE) is a grassroots coalition of faith communities around the Fort Myers area who come together to demand justice from our community leaders and local elected officials. LIFE is currently in dialogue with Fort Myers city council members about affordable housing and is working to establish a children’s services council in Lee County, two sorely needed social goods that Lee County officials have struggled to understand and implement. FMCUCC is deeply committed to the work of LIFE, with many members of our congregation as network members in the organization.
We are so excited to invite you to a number of important LIFE events that will be taking place this fall! At these events, we will have the opportunity to dialogue with folks from outside our church about shared commitments to just action, lift up LIFE’s successes in our community, educate ourselves about systemic social injustices in Southwest Florida, and call our leaders to the task of change. Below are important dates on LIFE’s calendar for this fall. We hope to see you there, beginning with LIFE’s online annual celebration!
LIFE Celebration – 8/17 at 7:00 pm
For the first time ever- LIFE will be hosting a completely virtual Annual Celebration! Please, plan for all members to join us on August 17th at 7 PM. We will Zoom as we welcome our newest LIFE congregation, St. John’s First Missionary Baptist Church, join as we break out in small group discussion with folks in your community you otherwise wouldn’t get to meet, and join as we celebrate in the midst of a pandemic the changes that we have made and the changes we will create in the future.

LIFE Research Kick-Off (join a team to meet with local, state and community experts to research “Community Problem”)

FMCUCC Justice Ministry Assembly (Will we be in church building?)
Sunday, February 21, 2021, 4:00pm – 5:45pm
And, of course, we aim to have over 100 FMCUCC representatives at the Annual NEHEMIAH ACTION
