December Doings

Giving Ideas from the Board of Missions

Advent is a period of waiting and preparation for the birth of Jesus. Many of us like to honor the season by gifting others we do not know personally. The Board of Missions has several options for you to show your generosity.

Give to one or more of our community organizations with a check (see the tables in the front entry or Fellowship Hall for details):

  • A.M.P (Lee Adolescent Mother’s Program)                                ● McGregor Clinic
  • Project Access (Homeless Education Program)                         ● L.I.F.E.
  • Gladiolus Learning and Development Center                            ● Gulf Coast Humane Society
  • American Foundation for Suicide Prevention                            ● Lee County Alliance for the Arts
  • Coalition of Immokalee Workers

For those who love to buy gifts, our “Giving Tree” has a sock theme this year. This is the item homeless shelters need the most.

Worship Services:

  • December 16th at 10:00 – Sunday Worship Features the Children

Sunday School will perform their Christmas Pageant for the congregation. This year’s pageant is “Is It Really Christmas?”. It will reflect on the true gifts of Christmas.

  • December 21st 7 pm – Blue Christmas Worship Service

Blue? Yes, blue as in the blues. As in “I am feeling blue.” Not everyone is up and cheery for the Christmas holidays. Dealing with the death of a loved one, facing life after divorce or separation, coping with the loss of a job, living with cancer or some other disease that puts a question mark over the future, and a number of other human situations make parties and joviality painful for many people in our congregations and communities. Come and join this reflective service.

  • December 24th 5 pm – Christmas Eve Service
