An Update from the Community Minister

An Update from the Community Minister

Hey Church,

Life’s crazy right now, but I just wanted to share a piece of good news. Lots of you know that I’ve been wanting to pursue a PhD in religion for a while, and that I had hoped to start this fall. Well, after a roller coaster of a year+ long application process that really did not end how I expected, I’ve accepted an offer to the University of Denver and Iliff Theological School’s Joint Doctoral Program in the Study of Religion.

I’m really excited about Denver, the JDP, and moving forward with this new chapter in my life! As stated, however, the world’s insane right now, so I’ve decided to defer my admission to next year, get my feet under me, and make sure I’m really prepared to take on this commitment. So I’m staying in Florida until next summer. I’m very grateful that Fort Myers Congregational UCC is keeping me on as community minister and that I’ll continue to serve as a chaplain at Avow. While I’m stoked about starting my PhD in Fall 2021, I’m just as excited to continue working with the folks of Southwest Florida for a more just, more peaceful, and more caring community.

In gratitude,
