Not 4 Sale – Genesis 25:19-34
In a down economy, people sell a lot of things – even themselves. Some things, though, should never be for sale. This week’s story of Jacob and Esau recounts the sale of Esau’s birthright in exchange for a bowl of soup – the most expensive bowl of soup in recorded history. We will get at this story by looking at current economic times when, via eBay and Craigslist, et al., people seem willing to sell whatever they can to add a buck to their coffers. Is there anything we wouldn’t sell? And how does one assess one’s own value in the sight of God?
