A Note from the Moderator

When considering the right time to reopen the church building, we must remember that a large number of our congregation is over the age of 65, which puts them at risk simply because of their age. Then, if you add in health issues such as diabetes, heart disease or high blood pressure, that puts them in a very high-risk category.

That being said, Florida has experienced the 3 highest daily number of hospitalizations and the 3 highest daily number of deaths within the last week. In addition, The Florida Department of Health’s latest data from July 24 shows more than 31,000 children under the age of 18 have tested positive for coronavirus.

As a member of the committee trying to determine when it will be safe to reopen the church building we must carefully take all of this into consideration. It is not yet safe.

“God, teach us what it means to have faith in silence. When we face trials that are beyond our understanding, help us to find peace. Help me be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer. You set all things in accordance to your time. Remind us to wait patiently, and find peace in your plan.” – Dick Woodard
